Kent Redding has more than 25 years of experience as an expert on Africa travel and adventure. During his tenure living in East Africa, he guided trips through the continent’s premier parks and studied with knowledgeable naturalists. He has summited Tanzania’s Mt. Kilimanjaro and Mt. Meru, kayaked in Lake Malawi, dune-bashed in Namibia’s Skeleton Coast and rafted down the Zambezi River below Victoria Falls. He has explored Botswana’s Okavango Delta, trekked through some of Egypt’s vast deserts, mountain biked through African mountains and bush land and tracked gorillas and chimpanzees in multiple countries. Leveraging his safari guiding and planning experience, today he enjoys helping our clients discover these impressive places.

Tracy Stevens fell in love with Africa on her first trip to Zambia and never looked back. With nearly two decades of travel planning experience, she’s designed extraordinary adventures ranging from a wedding above Victoria Falls to a world primate safari covering Borneo, Tanzania, Rwanda and Madagascar to a bar-mitzvah atop Kenya’s most sacred mountain. A born traveler, she grew up in the UK, lived in the Middle East and Europe and has spent years traveling the length and breadth of Africa, testing luxury lodges in the Kruger and fly-camping in the Serengeti under a blanket of stars.

Named as a Condé Nast Top Travel Specialist in 2020, Tracy believes that travel can be transformational: her clients’ most memorable experiences include watching a hundreds-strong elephant herd churning the waters of Botswana’s Linyanti River, wildlife-packed walking safaris in Zambia’s South Luangwa National Park, trekking the charismatic chimps in Tanzania’s remote Mahale Mountains, toasting the sunset atop the ochre dunes of the Moroccan Sahara, joining a Maasai guide for coming-of-age celebrations in his home village and life-changing encounters with the iconic mountain gorillas in Rwanda and Uganda, something Tracy has done five times (so far!). She brings a wealth of knowledge and passion for Africa’s wild places to each itinerary, taking the time to understand every client’s wishes, guided by the principle that travel is the only thing we buy that makes us richer. Book time on Tracy’s calendar to speak about planning a safari.

Nell Pollak

Nell Pollak

Journey Specialist

Nell Pollak has always been curious about the world around her. After graduating from the University of Colorado, she embarked on a four-month trip to Kenya in pursuit of learning about cultures very different than her own. That is when her spark for Africa ignited. While in Kenya she connected with a former classmate who started the non-profit organization Arrive in Kenya, whose mission is to help empower former street children in some of the most impoverished regions of Kenya. Since that trip, Nell has been back twice and joined the Board of Directors of the organization. Some of her most memorable memories on her last stint in East Africa were starting 2019 on Uhuru Peak on Mt. Kilimanjaro for sunrise and walking 1,088 miles over 58 grueling days across Kenya, Uganda and Rwanda – entirely on foot.

Ellen Hoffman is a passionate traveler who lives by the mantra: “Life’s short – take the trip.” Her love for exploring the world has taken her to 57 countries and 5 territories. She studied abroad in Luxembourg, spent nearly four years living in Switzerland and believes the best investment you can make is in experiences, not things. Her adventures span every corner of the globe. Ellen has ridden camels across the Sahara Desert in Morocco with her husband and three young children (ages 5, 3 and 1 at the time!), stood on the Equator during a safari adventure to Kenya and Tanzania and soared above Victoria Falls in a microlight aircraft. She’s enjoyed a mokoro ride through Botswana’s waterways, marveled at the Northern Lights in Norway’s Arctic Circle and skied the majestic Swiss Alps.

Beyond her own travels, Ellen loves helping others create unforgettable journeys. She specializes in customizing personalized trips for each client, ensuring every itinerary reflects their unique interests and dreams. For Ellen, travel isn’t just a hobby – it’s a way of life. She encourages others to embrace the unknown, take the leap and create memories that last a lifetime. Book time on Ellen’s calendar to speak about planning a safari.

Now that you’ve met our Adventure Consultants, see how they can help you find the perfect safari!

If there is one thing that sets Africa Adventure Consultants apart, it’s our outstanding guides. We use local guides on all trips, providing the best combination of expertise and entertainment — all with a distinctively local flavor. Many of our clients return and tell us that getting to know their guide was the highlight of the trip.

All our guides have years of experience and an extensive knowledge of, and passion for, the areas in which they work. On driving safaris, these guides normally accompany your party throughout your safari. For fly-in tours, we use camp-based guides who know their local area better than anyone. Many guests return to be guided by a particular guide with whom they have built up a relationship.

In addition to generalist safari guides, Africa Adventure Consultants can offer specialists guides — men and women who have gained specialized knowledge in mountain trekking, ornithology, astronomy, paleontology, photography, botany and anthropology. Please contact us for more information.
