The now famous ‘walking safari’ originated in Zambia’s South Luangwa and is still one of the finest ways to experience this pristine wilderness first hand. The combination of the adventure of walking, coupled with the opportunity to spoil yourself with hot refreshing showers and exceptional hospitality at each camp makes this the ultimate safari experience. Guides are some of the finest in Southern Africa and travelers will see few other tourists while deep in the African bush. End your safari with a few relaxing days on Lake Malawi snorkeling and kayaking in the clear blue waters.

Throughout this safari in the South Luangwa, you’ll have opportunities to spot over 60 animal species and over 400 bird species. On the plains you may see the large elephant herds, reaching up to 70 in number. Buffalo are abundant and can gather in herds of many hundreds. Zebra are spotted in small herds, Thornicroft’s giraffe, unique to Luangwa Valley are plentiful, and 14 different antelope species are easily seen on game and night drives. The Park has one of the densest populations of leopard in Southern Africa.
