We couldn’t be more excited about our partnership with Denver-based AfricAid, a non-profit that works to provide educational opportunities to girls in Tanzania. This is the third year of our partnership, so if you’ve followed us for any length of time, you’ve probably heard of them.
We help to sponsor their Art & Soul event each autumn. This year, the night will include a live performances by Mind & Body Dance Theatre, as well as Denver band Paper Bird. There will be African-themed gourmet food and cocktails, moving digital stories from girls around the world, elegant local and African art, and both a live and silent auction. One live auction item will be a Tanzania safari donated by Africa Adventure Consultants! Tickets are still available – come celebrate at Denver’s Red Line Gallery and help girls in Africa receive an education.
Our other major partnership activity is an annual safari to Taznania. It changes every year, but one focus that doesn’t change is the insider’s view into local culture and the girls whose lives benefit from AfricAid’s work. The first six days of the safari focuses on culture – the daily lives of the girls, from school to what it’s like in their homes. Participants will visit local markets and even have the chance to teach a lesson in one of AfricAid’s schools.
After the time in Arusha, those on this special safari will visit Tarangire National Park with its iconic baobab trees and huge elephant herds. The itinerary also includes a stop at Lake Manyara National Park (want to see lions up in trees? This is *the* place to do it!) and the Ngorongoro Crater, with its incredible concentration of wildlife. There is also an optional extension to spend time in Serengeti National Park where travelers might see the great wildebeest migration.
Join us for Art & Soul for for AfricAid’s Tanzania 2013. Better yet, join us for both. They serve a great cause and just might change how you view the world!
